Sam Maida And The Atomic Wegge

Looking for a new car? No? How about a used car? No, ok how about a used car from a handful of smelly old men from a shady used car lot in Pasadena, CA?

When we first arrived and parked across the street, some weirdo standing in front of a house he didn’t own (he stayed standing there for a few hours and then later just sort of wandered off) asked to use my cell phone to call his ride. When I said no, he said he would pay me one dollar to use it and began searching his clothing. I said no once again, and he looked a bit shocked.

Upon first arriving at Wegge Motor Cars in Pasadena, you’ll notice that the place is essentially a bungalow on a small corner lot with a garage. Here’s the image their website creates for Wegge Motor Cars:

Here’s what Wegge Motor Cars looks like in reality:

And here’s my review of Wegge Motor Cars I submitted to Yelp:

When buying a car, it’s nice to be greeted in a warm and friendly manner by professionals who know what they’re talking about and the car you’re interested in. Sam Maida and Wegge Motor Cars have created the exact opposite scenario. My experience was one of shock and disappoint at the unparalleled unprofessionalism carried out by Wegge Motor Cars.

I called and arranged to have a car I was interested in looked at by my mechanic. I was told this would be no problem. When I arrived they seemed put out and incessantly asked how long the process would take. I told them it would take roughly an hour. They told me they would drive the car to my mechanics location and meet us there. I arrived at my mechanic’s shop in 20 mintues. The driver called an hour later to say that he had gotten lost. A half hour later, he arrives and the car is inspected. The inspection lasts 45 minutes and the driver then heads back. I leave after the driver and arrive at Wegge 15 minutes before him. As I walk inside, Sam, noticeably annoyed, asked how it went and then before I can answer says “I thought it was only supposed to take an hour?” So, I said, “Well, your driver got lost and took more than hour to get there. The inspection took 45 minutes and your driver left before I did, and I am here now and he is not.” Sam, now even more noticeably upset, didn’t respond. Except for a slight and subtle grunt.

The car had some minor problems, but was clean enough to where I felt comfortable making an offer. I made my initial offer, which was $1500.00 lower than the asking price, citing some things that needed to be fixed. Sam simply shook his head, without looking up from his desk and then said plainly, “No.” So I said, all right and was prepared to go up to only a thousand below asking price. He then, once again, simply shook his head and said “No.” without ever looking up. I stood there, slightly shocked and right as I was thinking about walking away he says the lowest he’ll go is $500 off. I laughed a little and said, “Really? Ok, well you have my offer and my number. Think about it.” And then I walked away.

Unprofessional, perfectly describes Sam and Wegge Motor Cars. Be prepared to be considered a hassle with any interest in any of their vehicles. And yes, as mentioned in other reviews- they do have a rather large bird (Parrot) and are a bunch of confused old men who clearly posses limited knowledge in their business.

Settle down, and have some children.
